Audoux and Minet Rope Mirror

France, 1950s

An iconic example of French mid-century design, this original Audoux and Minet rope mirror was handcrafted on the French Riviera in the 1950s. Designed by the influential duo Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, the mirror features a circular frame wrapped in natural abaca hemp rope, showcasing their signature nautical style and commitment to artisanal materials.

The mirror is in excellent vintage condition, with light, rust-coloured markings on the glass (visible in photos), which contribute to its unique patina and timeworn charm. It has a wooden backing and a metal hanging ring, making it ready for display.

This piece is a classic representation of Audoux and Minet’s pioneering design approach — where organic materials like rope and raffia were reimagined into playful yet functional forms. Their work redefined modern French furniture in the 1950s and '60s, embracing a rustic elegance that remains highly collectible today.
