Antique Bleking Chair – Swedish Folk Design (Price Per Chair)
Sweden, 18th Century
These sculptural Swedish Bleking chairs, crafted in the 18th century, are rare examples of Scandinavian allmoge (folk) furniture from the Blekinge region of Sweden. Characterised by their rustic, primitive form, these chairs typically feature three-legged construction and were traditionally handcrafted for use in rural homes and farmhouses.
Each chair is unique in shape and character, showcasing hand-carved details, a beautiful deep stained finish, and the subtle variations that come from true artisanal craftsmanship.
Both chairs are in excellent antique condition, with wear consistent with their age. One chair features a visible historic repair to the backrest, adding to its authenticity and charm. While each is striking on its own, they make an especially powerful visual impact as a pair.
These are true one-of-a-kind pieces, ideal for collectors or interiors that honour folk history, tactile materials, and wabi-sabi beauty. Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. One chair has a repaired backrest, visible in photos. Structurally stable.
