French brutalist tripod folk stool

France, 1950s

This beautiful primitive brutalist tripod stool was hand-carved and crafted in France in the mid-20th century. Its deeply rich colour and visible rust line on the seat (see last image) speak to its history and authenticity.

The seat features a softly curved, organic shape that feels worn yet alive, perfectly embodying the spirit of wabi-sabi and handcrafted imperfection. The legs are straight and protruding, with distinctive hand carvings typical of primitive French folk design.

This stool makes a perfect addition to interiors that appreciate artisanal craft — harmonising effortlessly with antiques, primitive pieces, and modern design icons alike.
Stable and excellent vintage condition. Minor imperfections consistent with age and handmade origin add to the character and uniqueness of the piece.
